A Bit Of A Blur

Alex James must have been feeling as nostalgic as the rest of us, because he lit up a cigarette on stage. You are not supposed to do that these days. Still, what are they serving at Spectator lunches? He looked younger than I do.

Blur are not in fact younger than I am. But were they this year's only act not to have done Glastonbury because they were personal friends of King Arthur, or indeed of Joseph of Arimathea?

  1. No, I'm pretty sure it's OK for him to do that - the Glastonbury festival is outdoors, so the stage isn't covered by the ban on smoking in enclosed public places.

  2. What about bus stops? And it's a workplace.

Still, he was clearly back in the Britpop glory days. He wasn't the only one...

  3. The question of whether it's workplace is neither here nor there - it's about enclosure. Some bus stops are; the main stage at Glastonbury isn't.
