From Bailout To Sellout

All that money for drug companies, auto companies, banks, and the rest of them. And then even many Democrats (on Newsnight last night, even a lady who had lost her health insurance with her job and was dependent on a charitable clinic for her blood pressure tablets) do not trust the federal government to deliver healthcare.

The vitally necessary public option may be withdrawn. And the Progressive Democrats, far more numerous than the Blue Dogs (and with their allies on this issue twice as numerous), would then line up with the Republicans to defeat the remaining Bill in the House.

Whatever happened to Barack Obama? When did he turn into Bill Clinton?

  1. The interview with the lady in the charity health clinic was not surprising. In the run up to the 2004 Election, Matt Frei visited a diner in Tennessee where the waitress had no health insurance.
She did not want the State to provide it, "why that would be socialism" she told Frei.
Personally after 11 years online, I have long sinced stopped explaining that "Freedom" (as the Americans love) is really no good without a second generation of Freedom (such as the RIGHT to Health Care).
    Ultimately it doesnt matter.
The nearest American is 3,000 miles away.
It only becomes relevant when their nasty little politics affects western Europe.

  2. Not much solidarity there, John!

The largest Congressional caucus, providing 11 of 20 House Committe Chairman, is avowedly "organized around the principles of socialism and economic justice".

Officially in favour of same-sex "marriage", and most of its members are pro-abortion, but there is no great shortage of such people in the Republican Party, either.
