Getting There

The only married couple on Lanchester Parish Council somehow managed to find somewhere else to be this evening, another member had to leave early, and even the Chairman was clear that everything had to concluded by nine o'clock. But it easily was, anyway.

And in order to go straight on to somewhere, one councillor was accompanied by his wife, herself a former member, Pat Glass MP. Giving us all the chance, since the matter came up, to thank her for her outstanding work in relation to the partial, but still considerable, restoration of our bus services, in partnership with the County Councillors on a cross-party basis.

At this rate, the two sitting County Councillors, one Labour and one Independent, will be getting my votes next time. As will Pat. Especially if transport to Catholic schools is also restored, every faith-based secondary school in County Durham's state sector being Catholic, but this huge story having been ignored completely by "national" Catholic media that have obsessed for months - or is it now years? - over the precise composition of the Governing Body of one of those super-posh London pseudo-comprehensives. There is a world elsewhere.
