Those Membership Figures

But the size of the National Health Action Party is striking.

As is the inclusion of the Conservatives' "wider party", but not of Labour's, which is enormous.

And as is the fact that Labour now has 190,000 members when the figure usually cited for Scotland is 13,000.

Barely one fifteenth of the Labour Party's individual membership is now in Scotland. But in those terms, Labour is easily the largest political party in the United Kingdom as whole.

Add to that the election of Jim Murphy, which demonstrated that Scottish Labour was far to the Right of the party at large.

Meanwhile, the polls point to a Labour overall majority even without Scotland.

The "Scottish Labour Party" (no such organisation exists in actual fact) needs to get over itself.
