No Return?

If I were I put on here that I had never paid income tax, then would I be left alone, like this Bloomfield person?

Here goes: I have never paid income tax.

  1. Fink was obviously right and everyone (especially his critics) knows it. Fair play to him for telling the truth.

How many people, given a chance to legally reduce their tax burden, wouldnt take it? How many people take out ISA's to avoid it?

How many normal people, told that an error meant they'd paid too little tax, would voluntarily march into HMRC to hand over more of their money?

Get real. Of course everyone takes every measure they can to pay as little tax as possible.

Even Tony Benn dodged inheritance tax.

    1. This has all been dealt with in the media today, if you read anything.

The third Tory Government since the War to drown in its own sleaze and incompetence: 1964, 1997, and now 2015.

Maybe it's just them? Maybe it's just what they are?

  2. Yes, people who vote according to sleaze and incompetence are very stupid, as we discovered in 1997. Within a few months we had Olympic scale sleaze and incompetence under a different leadership. It's like voting Tory because lots of Labour MPs were expenses cheats.

No conservative who understands human nature bases his voting preferences on that.

    1. No Labour Government has ever fallen because of it. But being sleazy has brought down three Tory Governments since the War.

To this day, people think the Wilson Government was cleaner than the Profumo one, and the pre-Iraq Blair Government was cleaner than the Major one.

The Miliband Government really will be cleaner than the Cameron one, very low indeed though that is setting the bar.

All of this is the opposite of how Tories see themselves. But this time, there may very well be no way back.
