Empty Chair, Stuffed Suit

I do not like Leaders' Debates, which I find out of place in this country.

But it is entirely up to a broadcaster what events it organises, whom it invites to participate, and on what terms.

An empty chair, a tub of lard, or, best of all, a lifesize cut-out of David Cameron, ought to be asked its view at the appropriate junctures.

After the silence, the moderator would move on.

So far has the dignity of the office of Prime Minister fallen under Cameron, that empty-chairing is being publicly, not even threatened, but promised.
