As The Dust Settles

Those of you dancing at the defeat of George Galloway (and I am not exactly shedding a tear myself), he has promised to stand for Mayor of London. You have been warned.

In the great scheme of things, the biggest story here is that there are no more West Country Liberal MPs. Not one. Depending on how you measure it, at least 200 years of history have come to an end.

Now, sit back and watch the Right destroy David Cameron, as it destroyed John Major before him. It can never forgive any winner who is not Margaret Thatcher.

They are already muttering. They didn't care that Major had won what remains the single largest number of votes for any British party.

They won't care how well Cameron has done, either. In fact, they will hate him for it. They already do.

Yet they are the real losers here. They screamed across the Internet and much of the Press that Cameron was an unelectable Far Left entryist whose party's core vote was going to defect en bloc to something called UKIP.

How did that work out?

First time voters, I hope that you do not think that they are all like this. Mind you, I said that last time.

  1. Aren't you just being optimistic here? I just want to be left alone. Tories are more 'nanny state' than those they accuse of it!

  3. Oh, nearly 4 million voters defected to UKIP.

They got far more votes than the SNP and Lib Dems put together.

Only under our electoral system could that possibly look like anything other than a success.

  4. And with what remains of Labour the Lib Dems, Cameron and the BBC/Guardian campaigning for a Yes vote in the upcoming EU referendum, as Peter Hitchens said today, the result will seal our fate as a subject province forever.

All patriots will rue the day they didn't put UKIP in Parliament en masse.
