"London Is, Like, So Over"?

I shall believe that the media mean one word of that when they start covering anywhere else in the United Kingdom.

I do not object to coverage of London, in the way that I do not object to coverage of the United States, or to the existence of economically right-wing and socially liberal media.

It is the absence of anything else. That is the problem.

And these people have absolutely no intention of changing that.

If I am wrong, then I shall see them at the Durham Miners' Gala on Saturday.

  1. That'll be on National Geographic with other tribes untouched by human contact since the dawn of time.

    1. If only.

Most people in this country have never heard of it, and it has long been strapped for cash.

Yet it is rich in history, its colourful appearance would be highly telegenic, it is the largest trade union event in the world, and it is a good 10 times larger than all of the same season's Orange and kindred parades put together.

Durham is on the East Coast Main Line, but the London media find it easier to cover the remotest corners of the United States. Although not, it must be said, of any other country.

Whereas many other countries send people to the Durham Miners' Gala.
