Cuts Cost Lives

Contrary to the Prime Minister's assertion, the apparent rise in violent crime is not apparent at all. It is not simply due to better recording, as she would have us believe.

Excluding Hillsborough, homicides went up by eight per cent in the year to March 2017. Today, the Office for National Statistics revealed that there had been an increase of 18 per cent over the last two years.

Yet last night, the House of Commons voted for even further cuts to Police budgets. It is time for the real party of law and order, the party of Diane Abbott and Richard Burgon.

Diane Abbott knows what it is to be in fear of crime. She has spent her whole life walking around London as a black woman, and she now does so as an older black woman. When she speaks, then we should all listen.
